Kenmore Washer does not change cycles on its own

My Kenmore can function in each cycle if I change the dial manually, but it has stopped progressing through the cycles on its own. The dial also does not move. Would the problem simply be the dial or the timer? If it is one of those what does it look like in the console and do I remove the entire block unit and how do I remove it?

Replace the timer. It is the one with the control knob(dial) attached.
