GE JGB918SEL3SS Burner knobs melted

My wife broiled lamb chops the other night and left the upper oven door open to watch them, the next night while making pasta she thought something had spilled onto the burner knobs, but when I looked at them they were burned on the bottom and disfigured.  I called GE and they are sending me a replacement set for free, has anyone else experienced this problem.
