Okay - I'm not having a lot of luck with this - here's what's happened so far
My washing machine broke - a lot of noise during washing for the last few months (like bearings in trouble) and then finally kaput. Stopped mid washing - very difficult to move to where it would empty the water my wife said.
When I examined it today all the pulleys seem quite free, no smell from the motor nor obvious burn marks on the belt. I decided to take out the agitator and after some hassle (another thread from me) I got that off. My plan was to move down through the tub to check step by step for some form of wear/jamming/breakage.
When I lifted out the agitator I noticed the seal/rubber ring around the center shaft seems to have been sitting at an angle (had a repairman at this machine about 6 years ago maybe not put back right )
Of the 4 bolts holding the clothes basket on (under the agitator) 3 were seized and sheared - and the clothes basket is as if it is welded in place - cant budge it at all - looks like serious corrosion from here on in - anyone got any ideas as to whether this is likely to be worth the effort ??
