70 Series washer won spin
« on: October 09, 2009, 08:52:06 AM »
Kenmore 70 series washer agitates but when it get to spin cycle it doesn't spin. It clicks into spin cycle but no action (sounds as if a belt snapped but there is no belt in this machine?). I changed the coupler. Can anyone offer any advise  ???. Thank u in advance :)

Hi fungas,

Could you post the full model number for us? The model number can be found on the model/serial number tag that is located on the washer.

Sears/Kenmore model number starts with three digits and end with eight.

For example. 110.12344678

Check picture below for possible model number tag locations.

The coupler is great place to start but if that is not it then it could be any number of things. Check out these repair pix:

"Sounds like" <charades> :) a lid switch, but as Al said, without a model number it is kind of hard to steer you as to what to look for.

Sounds more like a failed clutch assembly, which includes the brake release cam. Since you replaced the coupler and still no spin action, just noise, this is the best logical solution. Replacing the clutch is no big deal as seen here. The clutch kit comes with a new brake cam to make the machine run like new again.

fungas

Glad to hear the clutch fixed your spin problem. Did this new problem start after you replaced the clutch?

If it started months later and had nothing to do with replacing the clutch it would be best to start a new topic.

Yes, you probably pinched the clear water pressure tubing at the rear of the cabinet when you put it together or the tube came off the pressure switch.

Their is a channel running down the back wall of the washer. If the tube ain't in that grove then it will be pinched. Water level switch won't know to shut down.

Glad to hear you got it repaired.
So was the problem a pinched clear water pressure tube or did you find something else?
