LG Refrigerator - Problems

I have an LG refrigerator Model # LFX25950TT Purchased in June 2007.  Within the first month I started having problems with the ice maker.  I had a service tech our 3 times for the same problem. The ice maker was eventually replaced.  In April I received notification that my refrigerator had a recall regarding its energy efficiency.  An LG authorized repairman replaced a circuit board in April 2009 to increase energy efficiency. 
Recently my front panel has been displaying an error code "ER IF".... this morning I work up to the sound of the fridge trying to dispense ice, the front panel flashing on and off erratically, and the smell of burning (wire or plastic ... not sure???)  I unplugged the fridge for fear of burning my house down.  Any ideas   From what I've read about this refrigerator it sounds like it needs to be recalled.  Extremely frustrated!!!! 

Any input would be helpful.  I can't afford a new refrigerator.

It sounds like the actuator handle stuck, some of these dispensers were a little tight on the tolerance and an ignition file to trim the edges usually fixes it, just pull it out to stop the current problem.

The IF is an Ice Fan error which is usually caused by a moisture buildup in the duct which then freezes and builds up more and can extend to the PC board and cause more problems.  the recommended replacement is a Damper Fan Motor Assembly.

I think you have problem with the PWB (control board)...sound to me like the low voltage capacitor are blown (burned smell)..the board has no low voltage causing the   PWB to reset it self . doing a start up. (flapper open and lights blinking)... But this is something a tech should diagnose . the boards are not cheap to replace, part # EBR34917110
