Kenmore 70 series dryer won't heat
« on: October 04, 2009, 06:50:04 PM »
I have a kenmore gas dryer and it will not heat. I have taken the back off and when i start it in the timed cycle,i see the heating element glow and then shut off.It will fire up once in a while for a few minutes. Can anyone help?

I'm having the same problem - when I first fire up the dryer (Kenmore 70 gas model:  110.74732400) the heating element glows and I get flame - all is good.  But it only runs one or two cycles like that.  The heating element will still kick on after that but no flame, thus no drying.

I presume it's the same trouble the above fellow is having but before I go and replace the gas coils, I just wanted to double check here as it's a different model number.

TIA!   :)

Model 110.74732400

That's correct, replace the coils.

I looked up your model number and here is the kit you need.

They are on the gas valve.
Remove the front panel to access the gas valve.

Check these out: accessing the gas assembly photos

Outstanding, thank you.

Looks like the drum will NOT have to come out to access the coils, correct?

It makes it easier to replace the coils with the drum out. No need to remove the assembly just yank the drum out and clean out the dryer. You always want to clean the dryer and oil the rollers.
This is the exact replacement part at a very good price, buy it here if you wish and support the site . Thanks

Okay, thanx.

I would buy them there but they have them listed as out of stock and I kinda want to get up and running as quickly as possible.   :-\
