Jennair Range turns on by itself
« on: September 30, 2009, 11:21:37 AM »
Hello,

I have a jennair JGR 8850 ADW range that starts to turn on by itself in a broil mode. The stop or cancel does not work.

I have replaced the control board (paid mor than 300$). Then the range worked properly for only 2 weeks. Then everything went back as before.

I don't know wether I have to throw the range and by a new one. I wander if anybody can help.

Thanks

Khasan

Replace the clock.  It's only $165, not $300, however you might invest in some KY jelly  if you paid $300 for it :)

Thanks a lot for your reply

Actually, I am not an expert in these matters. What should I do with the jelly?

The technician who replaced the control board for me says that the problem is in these sophisticated computers (the control), but I do believe that the board is defective. The one that I have now is a black color board with no Jennair brand name on it as the old one which is identical to your photo.

If the clock is damaged, why the range worked properly for 2 weeks?

I am a little bit hesitant of investing more in this range as I am losing my confidence in it.
Now, the range is always unplugged, and whenever I plug it, it beeps and go to broil mode with no control (what ever you press on the pads, it will stay in broil mode). Sometime, after broiling, it can be changed into bake mode. It works for a while and then starts beeping and F1 error appears. Pressing Bake, then 100, then bake for few seconds will display the message F0,0 which means there is no error message stored in the control.

The F-1 and F-0 are certainly a positive indication of a bad control. The technician who installed it needs to be contacted to return and replace the control under warranty, this time with the correct white panel clock as shown. If he is unwilling to do so, find a good lawyer or order the clock and replace it yourself.

I am getting the message F0,0 not F1,0 when testing the range (bake, 100, bake) eventhough the message F1 appeared before.

I have contacted the technician and he is coming tomorrow to inspect again. Last time the range worked fine when the technician was inspecting it. The next morning I woke up to find it broiling all the night by itself.

I saw in the link you send that the black board cost about 155$, while the White is 165$. Is there any difference between the two?

Regards

The difference is probably just cosmetic...the basic guts of the control are the same. Perhaps he got a bad control from the parts house he uses. It has happened before.

We will see tomorrow what are the news.
May be you are right, the board that he installed may be a bad one. I'll ask him to change it.

My company gives 90 days on parts ,30 days labour ..the tech needs to come back and change the part ...his supplier will give him credit for it . I looked up the part on a Canadian parts suppliers web site and it retails for $198.69 Canadian   the KY  joke is too funny

So, the control board has been replaced again by a newer one. The range is under control.

Thanks for all participants
