Forget the bearing. Not a possiblilty. Sorry it was mentioned.

If the motor OHMs are correct, the the RPS/harness is likely bad. (Rotor Position Switch). LG and Fisher/Paykel both have issues with this as well as the WP Cabrio.

But if the wire harness has good continuity it would be the hall sensor...

That hall sensor keeps track of where the rotor is right? What goes haywire with it? does it get wet? If you don't know then join the club.

Hall sensor is a transducer it varies the output voltage in response to changes in magnetic field. magnet is on a shaft or hall plate . With a hall senor the control can do switching, positioning, speed detection.
it directly returns a voltage. With a known magnetic field, its distance from the Hall plate can be determined. the relative position of the magnet can be deduced.
Electricity carried through a conductor will produce a magnetic field that varies with current.
problem with them are shorts , open and misplacements...
Check the Basics first!!! Read the Manual !!!Buy the tech a Beer!!!

Now let me get this straight:
The hall sensor picks up an electrical field within the coils mounted stationary right? So the sensor mounts on the rotor?

Correct, 3 phase DC.  The coils mount to the back of the drum with the hall sensor and the permanent magnets spin around it.

More to this problem, if you unplug the hall sensor, the drum will sit there and rock about 1 to 1.5 inches.  So if the wire harness checks out I would go to the hall sensor.
