Hi-
    The front tub rubber seal on my washer (model WM2277HM) has a tear in it, so the washer leaks water when i use it. please let me know how i can fix or replace it (please provide part number if possible). Thank you!

I use a tool call a Shark clamp..I found at harbor freight.. it is a two way clamp I just  made a small mod to the jaws and it will work on any door spring...

I just use a small wood clamp and a cotter pin puller, works on just about any brand except the GE inner boot clamp.  Nothing makes that one easy....  But I'm sure gonna check out the shark clamp thing next time I go in to civilization.

here is a pic of the shark clamp... harbor freight sells them for $12.99 and it will work on LG bosch and maytag boot springs..

what I do to remove gasket
1) Use a pick or small screwdriver put in the spring at the bottom pry it out of the gasket. Spring and wire clamp will come out.

2) pull rubber gasket off the front of the washer.. fold it inside out into the tub.
3) Use a pick or small screwdriver put in the spring at the bottom pry it out of the gasket. Spring and wire clamp will come out inside of gasket.
4) pull rubber gasket off the outer tub.

too install New gasket.
1) heat the gasket in a dryer
2) Start at the top. Take the top of the gasket insert it into the lip of the outer tub. work your way around the outer tub until you get it in all the way around..
(if your fingers are too big you may have to remove the front bricks)
3)fold the gasket into the tub inside out.
4)take the wire with spring start at the top  ( use the shark clamp to open the spring) slide the wire and spring around gasket and outer tub. release shark clamp
5)Pull gasket out of tub. insert fill hose or spray hose or light if you have them.
6) start at the top insert the gasket to washer front lip. work your way around the front.
7)take the wire with spring start at the top  (use the shark clamp to open the spring) slide the wire and spring around gasket and outer tub. release shark clamp

i CANT GET THE SPRING ON AHHHHHHHHHHH   HOW DO YOU OPEN A SPRING WITH A CLAMP?? ANY HELP OUT THERE THANKS

That screw driver handle on that shark clamp opens and closes the jaws making it easy to handle that pesky spring.

JUST WENT AND GOT THE SHARK CLAMP.  no help....................THE SPRING IS TO SMALL IT GOES RIGHT THOUGH THE HOLES IN THE CLAMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS REALLY STINKS

Use 2 short pieces of metal through the ends of the springs (where the loops are) to keep it from going through.  Tips from a spring clamp tool or jewelers screwdriver come to mind.  Maybe straighten a paper clip and bend it small enough to get three or four wires through the loop?

I have not tried the shark clamp, I use a small wood clamp to hold one side of the spring to the machine and a 90 deg. pick to stretch it into the groove, sliding the pick around as I go.
