Maytag gas drier burners won't stay lit.... with a twist.

On the blower housing is a control thermostat and a fuse. Both go to the burner in series. If either is open then no power will get to the gas assembly but the dryer will still run.
Both the flame sensor and flame ignitor are wired in series with each other. If either one is open nothing will happen. The flame sensor will open with the heat from the ignitor and when the ignitor shuts down then the amp draw is then applied to those coils, they open the gas and whoosh! Houston we have ignition.

When wifey vaccumed out the dryer, look to see that the vacuum did not dislodge the wire on the hi-limit thermostat on top of the burner flue or possible the ones on the left side at the flame sensor.

Sorry about the new thread and thanks for combining them.

I have my answer. Apparently the wife got a little over enthusiastic in her cleaning.  The ignitor is broken right off!

When you swap the new part do not drop it or touch the ignitor. Only the base of it. Oils from your skin can make that puppy take a dump.
