Kenmore Elite Top Loader Won't Spin/Drain

Our 3 year old washer will no longer spin and drain like it did when new, especially when heavily loaded. Usually by removing clothes and cycling the main knob we can usually get it to cooperate.

When this happened for the very first time, maybe 6 months ago, the washer was making a buzzing/clicking noise and it smelled as if something was burning. However, we managed to get it working again.

Now, our wash load size has grown quite small due to this issue. Laundry now takes forever and a day.

What's it gonna take to fix this? I will likely do it myself. We live out in the sticks in Virginia and getting a service man to our house will be next to impossible. My mechanical ability is above average, however I've never gotten into a home appliance.

It sounds like your clutch is bad,now the clicking and buzzing and smell could be a coupler going bad.Now if it's the clutch pull up a parts diagram and go from there. a clutch job is not all that complected.

Check the water pump. Might be something in there
