kenmore dryer door latch is broken

the latch in my dryer door is broken.  you recently posted about a similar problem and showed a photo of the replacement latch part.  i cant' find that post now.    when i get the replacement part, how do i install it? 

OR is it possible to unscrew the door and open it up completely and fix the existing latch? instead of buying a new part?
