Frigidaire - No Ice or Water
« on: September 13, 2009, 09:40:28 PM »
Frigidaire - FRS26TS7DB2 Refrigerator.

Even when it was brand new it never made ice or dispensed water. I chalked it up to not having enough water pressure at the back of the fridge. By the time i got around to checking the guarantee had expired. I paid a guy to come out and fix it and he did nothing.

Ultimately I replaced the ice maker which had no effect on the problem. this actually makes a lot of sense because i was not getting water either, (so how could it just be the ice maker).

I then replaced the triple valve, using part number 241734301, (this is the thing that the water line connects to on the fridge that has the yellow, green, brown, and clear plastic tubes connected to it.

I checked the water pressure, it comes out of hose with enough force to put out a fire on the other side of the kitchen.

neither of these part replacements had any impact on the problem. I have checked all the stupid stuff... yes it is on... etc. i did cycle it on and off... etc.

the water dispenser just drips water when you try to activate it and the ice maker might make a cube every three weeks or so.

I have also replaced the water  filter.

Thank you for any help you can provide....

Have ye tried putting some water into the ice mold with a cup to see if that ice maker will make a batch?

I will give that a shot but note that the water dispenser does not put out more than drops at a time either... also that i replaced the ice maker unit and the problem was not resolved.

If the water flows freely when you take the hose off the back then you probably have a plugged or frozen inlet tube.

I can't say what colour it is but it is the tube that runs up the back of the fridge and attaches to the dispenser tube that goes through the freezer wall at the top. I test the valve by unhooking the hose from there and applying voltage to the valve. Make sure your holding the hose over a bucket or something to catch the water. If water sprays out the valve is good and the dispenser tube is likely frozen or clogged.

You initialy said something about water pressure to the unit...do you have this on an R/O system?

It must have 25 psi to work the valve.

yes it is on a reverse osmosis system.  but the water pressure at the hose from the wall is extremely forceful.

Just to eliminate this as a problem i will run the garden hose in... this will be a pain in the ....  though becuase ill have to make an adapter.

re the valve being clogged or dirty.  i replaced it with a brand new one and it did not resolve the problem.

mr fixit --  would i have to apply voltage to two of the solenoids to make the water come out of the tube that goes into the back of the icemaker?

From the main inlet valve everything runs up to the filter and then back to the twin valves to split to either the ice maker or water dispenser.  Take the line coming back down from the filter off (stick it in a bucket) and see if you have pressure there.  Sounds like a kinked pex tube or something blocking the filter connections....  :)

A cube a week and the dispenser only drips, everything runs through the filter on this model, that's where I'd look.  I didn't see where he tested manually filling it.

Anyway you can connect your ice maker up to plain old tap water?
