How to fix washer

The washer stopped at the spin cycle. It had a electrical burn smell and would not spin until all clothes were removed and there was a small amount of water left in the tub.The spin cycle made a noises while starting up and continued until the spin cycled ended. What parts need to be replaced?

Maybe nothing needs to be replaced just yet. If something (like a thong, perhaps) got jammed in the pump, the motor would stall and  smell burnt. What you need to do next is to remove the cabinet and pop the pump hoses off to check for obstructions. Then, remove the pump and see if it will turn manually. Since the pump is directly connected to the front motor shaft, as you will see once you remove the cabinet, an obstruction will cause the problem. Sometimes the simplest solution is just an inspection.

Worked like a charm. Thanks for the how to links. There was a small sock stuck in the water pump.
