Quiet Partner II wash motor leaks

Greetings! Thanks for a great resource!

So, the dishwasher leaks from the wash motor.  I have it out but I'm not sure how to pull the impeller to replace the shaft seal.

And? Also the large doubled up O-ring thing? Is there a top and bottom to it or does it mater which way it goes back in?

Any help and tips for reassembly would be appreciated.

You have to secure the motor armature ( the part that spins)and rotate the impeller counter clockwise to remove it. I do this by inserting a small flat screwdriver into one of the cast metal fins in the back end of the motor. You must be very careful not to damage the windings or break a fin. I find that with most of these that if you had a seal leak that the bearings and or shaft are damaged and the whole assembly has to be replaced. And the O ring goes either way.

I'm thinking that I should try to just replace the O ring and if that fails maybe buy a more robust dishwasher?

I maintain and rebuild machine tools from the early 1900's to the 1970's
(Brown and Sharpe screw machines)

The leaks do not usually originate from that large O ring but rather the shaft seal under the impeller you can buy a seal kit for this. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=3738238   You will know what you need by disassembling the motor to get down to the shaft and inspect it for damage. If the shaft has any pitting or the bearings seem to have been exposed to water then I would replace the whole motor assembly ( the part in your post is it)
