Hi Peggy,

What is the model number of your washer? You can find the full model number on the model/serial number tag that is located on the washer.

Series 70 is not a model number.

Check pictures below for possible model number tag locations:

Peggy, If memory serves the 70 series is a top loader, first thing to look at would be the lid switch.  small post on the lid depresses the switch.  If the screws holding the switch are loose or the switch doesn't come back up when the lid is lifted then it is the switch.  You can also use a meter to check the switch, open the control panel from the front, unplug the switch, connect your meter and see if the continuity goes from infinite to open when you open and close the lid..

On the back side of that 110. is a series of numbers.
Your model number would look like this:
110.12345678 Post the entire thang so we can determine what kind of washer you have and then we can give a better answer. :)

This washer has a lid switch assembly which comes in two different parts which is The actuator.(that is the thang that engages the switch) and the switch itself.
It could be that the switch is bad OR that arm is broken where it engages the switch. Before you buy any thing get the switch off and jump the 2 wires together to see if the washer pumps and spins and let us know.
This is the exact replacement switch
This is the exact replacement actuator
