With all due repect to Tech's on this forum, Investigate what the cost of doing bussiness is with the manufactures. Let the old techs do the warranty work, just insurance alone, is cost prohibitive unless you in an area of many repairs & little travel.
Make no mistake about it, you must have some insurance.  Most manufacturer won't respond to your request for information or give the name & # of a representitive in your area that will not respond or if they do will be so condesending you will  wish you hadn't wasted your time.
I live in Rural West Texas the nearest Warranty service to this area is 70 miles, the product owners have a 3-4 week wait and are frequenly cancelled because there are no other calls in the area of their appointment, excusses, excusses but it boils down to it is not cost effective for them to service the customer, BUT on the other hand if it non- warranty work than they can get paid for their time and parts. I did some work for the big Appliance outfit for warranty work & had to wait for my money plus was only paid 30% of
my billing ( was not allowed any mileage and was paid $35 for the service call). Indepenent
am I, don't need warranty work have more than I can do.

We do about half and half, collect and warrenty.  I'll keep doing both, just check the contract before you sign to make sure they pay mileage.  Most will for more than 25 miles and my wife, keeps me in line, gets the authorization for mileage before I run the call. :)

Uh, RCA/Whirlpool corporation was the original company. Not ge.

At present they have sold the rights to a Thomson Group, no doubt a financia holdings group:

On this forum, always start a new topic and include the model number of the appliance. Adding to another post  is not allowed, thanks.
