refrigertor condensation

I am looking at the new model top freezer Sears Model 79302.   This has  enhanced "direct door cooling" and in the store the door is very cool.

My concern is that my old Kenmore has had condensation on the outside and rust developed.   I am afraid that buying the 79302 will have a condensation problem with the cooled door.  Interesting this booklet says in humid areas to use a car wax on the outside to prevent condensation.  Never saw that before! So Sears must be aware this will be an issue.

Normally, the solution is to flip off the power saver.  But this might not work with a refrigerator that has a feature to cool the door (inviting condensation).

QUESTION:   Should I prevent issues by getting the model without the advanced cooling in door feature?

Your old unit likely had fiberglass insulation in the doors (pre-1995), not the solid foam that is now being used. The newer ones do not rust out like that. Wax is a good idea, and prevents the moisture from staying on the surface of the door, although I doubt there will be any. I say go for it.

FYI, the steel used in all new boxes is about 50% thinner than on the older ones anyhow, so they want you to protect the exterior. Makes no difference which brand you buy, either.
