kenmore front load washer, soil selector touch button unresponsive

Hi,

My kenmore front load washer is stuck on the short washing cycle.  The front of the touchpad was kind of peeled up at the lower left corner, so I looked under and saw that the way the tounchpad works is that a square contact on the 'label' part needed to contact the front of the washer to change cycles.  I cleaned both contacts with a pencil eraser and it is still unresponsive.  All the other buttons appear to currently work fine.  Is there a way determine of the touchpad needs to be replaced, and if it does, how complicated is it to do that?

Hi,

Remove the service panel on the front of the washer at the bottom.
Look for the service literature that will tell you how to test the touch pad.

If you don't find the service literature there it maybe under the top cover.

The service literature will tell you how to put your washer into the diagnostic mode so you can test the touch pad buttons.
