GE self-cleaning oven doesn't work

hi I also have a G E self-cleaning radiant electric slide-in range and i atempted to use the self cleaning and now the display says LOCKED DOOR and the door is not locked and I cant use the oven HELP the number I have is JSP42

turn power off to the stove and see if it resets

yes i turned off the power source as well. the last time i turned off power for 5 hours and when i plugged it back up the time was reset but the display said LOCKED DOOR and the door was still unlocked and i was still unable to use the stove.

A partial model number  does not help us nor yourself. If you'd kindly post the entire number, the correct advice can be presented.

The control senses that the door latch is not fully open, even though you are able to open the door. This usually indicates a bad door latch assembly, but I would first try to put the unit into another clean cycle first, then after the door locks down, cancel the cycle. If the door lock light does not go out after this, replace the latch mechanism, shown below:

thank you . If we unscrew the lock and take it out, will the oven work until we get it fixed or can we fix it ourselves?

The latch assembly has several wires leading back to the control and you cannot disconnect it without disabling the oven again. If cycling the oven did not cause the issue to go away, I recommend a repairman to come out and replace the assembly. The disassembly on this unit is more than a lay person would want to attempt.
