Kitchenaid KSRS25FTMS01 Dispensing ice by itself (at 4am)

We were awoken by our side by side KA KSRS25FTMS01 dispensing crushed ice all over our floor at 4 am. Is our fridge possessed or could there be a problem with the dispenser board? We took out the ice storage bin and the motor was still going and the fridge was beeping. We opened and closed the freezer door a bunch of times as well as turned off the ice maker. There was a ticking sound coming from the motor which then stopped. Any ideas?
