Just had this happen for the second time, first time the service man replaced the adaptive defrost control and everything was fine for a few years. Well, last week it started again, we had the same company come in and they replaced the defrost control again, part # 61005988
I came home from work to find it still isn't right. The freezer fan is on all the time and the fridge is sitting at 50 degree's. Taking a quick look at the schematic I see that the temperature control contacts has to closed for the freezer and condensor fans to work. Could the condensor fan not working cause this? My freezer seems to be fine.
 Thanks!

D.J.

Yeah if that condenser fan ain't going you won't have much cooling going on.

Besidees all the stuff you read, is there frost on the back inside wall of the freezer? If so, it could be another ADC board failure or even a defrost heater/thermostat problem. Not the condenser fan.

Remove the 2 screws holding the back wall of the freezer and look. If there's ice all over the coils, the FF side will not cool down. You must use an OHM meter to test the defrost heater and thermostat by unhooking the 3-wire harenss and checking continuity thru the 3 wires. Expect to read about 2.25 Ohms if the heater is good. Actually any reading above 2 is good, as long as the circuit is not open. If it is open, replace the heater and thermostat only. If it shows continuity, the board has failed once again.

A good  surge protector on back of the unit might help prevent future repeat episodes of board failure.

Yep, I put the decimal in the wrong place. It would read about 22.5 or so OHMs, not 2.25. Thanks for spotting the error Reg....sometimes my typing coordination is not so sharp at 6 am  :)

The following day I was getting ready to pull my freezer side apart when my fan cycled, and then seem to be back to normal. The fridge temp dropped to 38 degree's and seems fine now.
Could this be caused by not doing a manual defrost after replacing the ADC? It took approx. 24hours before the fridge starting operating normally. And again, I appreciate the help.

Yes, if The Evaporator Coil was totally clogged with frost (no air flow)
