Washer timer knob doesn't affect the control

Would it help if I posted pictures and/or video (just to make clear what I'm saying, in case it's ambiguous, and to help figure out what "style" of knob assembly it is)

Did you ever solve this probelm? I seem to have the same with my Whirlpool washer. The timer assembly was replaced a few years back and I can't belierve it is the same issue.
