GE Wizard agitation problem, is this the transmission/motor or something else?

I have a video located here: Wizard

This is a GE Wizard washing machine and I'm not sure what the bad part is. As the video shows, the agitation is working fine and then after awhile it stops working and starts clicking and trying to move. The spin cycle is also having problems now. If I let it sit for awhile it will start working again and then the problem comes back.

Depending on what is wrong the unit may still be under warranty but they want $90 to even show up. If it is under warranty then I will call GE but if not then I will fix it myself but I need to know what the problem is first.

Hi Dave

Many of the GE washers had issues with the motor/converter. GE has re-designed this motor to eliminate that feature, and the new style motor kit is shown below. It comes with all pieces necessary to convert. Dontcha love these Asian-made parts? This motor comes from our neighbors in India.

Is the motor part of the transmission?

The warranty covers the transmission for ten years but I don't see the motor listed at all in the warranty. So does that mean  the motor is only covered in the 1-year everything part of the warranty?

No, the motor isn't part of the transmission.

Yes, you have just a 1 yr. warranty on the motor just like the 1-year everything part of the warranty.
