Dish washer will not fill

Sure hope you can help, our GE dish washer is not filling. We get just a trickle of water, I checked the float switch. It seems to be OK, I am thinking that the screen in the supply valve is clogged. but for the life of me, I cant figure out how to get to it. I was thinking of laying the washer on its side, but I am worried about the counter weights. Are they attached? Any suggestions would be appreciated,
Steve

This post belongs in the GE section.
Your water valve is likely the problem, but cleaning the internal screens is not recommended, since they are built into the valve itself. Some have tried disassembling the valve and found out later that it leaks, so replacing this part is more advantageous. You can try sucking out the sediment that you see in the valve inlet by using a turkey baster to avoid removing the screen. The valve for your model is shown below, and you may click to order. You'll find the valve is easy to replace by means of the lower access panel. No removal of the unit is required, just 2 screws holding the valve to the frame.

Sorry about the wrong location, we bought it at Sears.
I have the front access panel removed and I can see the valve but cannot reach it, it is in the back of the unit, that's why I was thinking of laying it on it's side.
But I am worried that the counter weights will fall.
Thanks for the quick reply,
Steve

Lay it on its back instead.
I don't understand why there is a SEARs forum here, since they make NOTHING at all. It tends to confuse people when we make references to the actual manufacturer of the product. Unless it says Kenmore on it, the best route is to use the forum which applies to your brand. Maybe Mr Capone can move this topic for us.

Thanks, Thats what I did, laid it on the back. I disconnected the hose, really expecting to see a clogged screen. some stuff in it but not clogged, I noticed that when we hook it up, and turn on the water, the supply hose seems to pressure up and the connector on the faucet leaks. We still just get a trickle of water. Guess I am gonna have to get the valve, and a different screw driver, cause i could not get that valve off, screws look like they have loctite on them, Thanks for all the help
