kenmore ice maker serving door will not close

     the serving door for icemaker is not closing.  I do not have a manual for it so I can't tell how to take it apart to see what the actual problem is.  It seems like there might be a spring or something broken.  It looks like if I hold the ice chute and lever up the door closes, but I can't stand there 24/7 holding it closed.  Please don't laugh at me if I totally described it wrong I'm new at trying to fix appliances.

No one's laughing (yet). Your dispenser chute door closes by means of an air pot and a spring (#8 and #4 on the diagram). Sometimes the actuator bracket also breaks (#7)  Most of the Whirlpool refrigerator manuals describe how to service the dispenser, so open up a couple of them and do some reading.
