Sorry to Start A New "Won't Agitate" Topic

My Maytag Model LAT8624AAE won't agitate after fill.  The wife says if she sets the timer on pre-soak, it will do the little "pre-soak agitate dance" (a short agitation to mix the soap, water and clothes, I assume.), but then will not agitate once the timer progresses beyond the pre-soak period.  Other than this pre-soak condition, it will not agitate on any cycle (Permanent Press, Regular, Gentle, etc.).  Since I am temporarily disabled, I have to take my wife's word on it.  Otherwise, I would love to help her out with the laundry.  

The water will spin out, so I assume the lid switch is OK.  Any ideas where to start looking?

I have came across this before. Since the motor spins out,It has to be the timer. I would make sure the pump turns free both ways. Then I would order a new timer. http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearch/SmartSearch.aspx

JW, this afternoon, based on your suggestion, I purchased a new timer at the local RepairClinic.  PROBLEM SOLVED!!!   You are as intelligent as you are handsome!
