I haven't done many appliance repairs and I wasn't even savvy to this issue until an inspector (we are selling the house) walked by the washer with his non-contact voltage detector and it went off. He didn't check with a voltage meter, but I did when I returned. I registered a constant 37 volts with my meter just by touching one of the non painted screws on the body. Could something be grounded out inside? Wouldn't this have tripped a fuse or wouldn't it show 120 volts if a bare wire were in contact with the inside wall? I'm confused. I'm going to unplug it until I can crack it open. Any suggestions before doing so? Anyone see this before? Thanks.
