washer----leaks at water inlet valve

simple problem, hope its not an expensive solution like needing new water inlet value

I have new water hoses and I am leaking where the hose screws into the inlet valve on the machine---------why did they do this with plastic theads instead of brass???---it appears the threads may be messed up cause I cant seem to screw it on one of the valves in particular straight-----is the theaded part replacable without having to replace the whole valve or any solution to seal the leak ( teflon or plumbers dope)----thank you for your thoughts

have you tried another hose, or the opposite end of the same hose ?

are the threads that badly damaged ?

thread look worse toward the end than once u get up further on it---just cant seem to get it on straight---i know its not the hose cause the hose is not leaking on the other valve--

looking at the kenmore literature and it says 110.7204903 my dad who gave it to me wrote in an A at the end of the # above preprinted

why do they use plastic threads instead of brass--can u just but the threaded part to attach to the value or is that made onto the value so have to but it all

ill keep trying but you might give me a part # and price if i cant stop the leak and have to consider a part-----this thing is 35 years old but hasnt been used in the last 15----can anything go bad just sitting up like with a car

you could try using a small triangular file to try to fix the threads....
