How is the knob on the cycle selector(timer) removed?

Hi,

I can not tell for sure what style timer you have from the diagram.
There are a couple different styles.

The first kind you just push the knob in and unscrew the knob.
Like in this video.



The other style has a black shaft you have to get to on the back of the timer and pull on it.
This style often has some instructions on the back of the timer telling you what to do.

Thanks for the help,but I have the second knob you are talking about.
This Kenmore is made by Maytag.

Push in on the knob and turn it counter clockwise and it will screw off. Why are you removing the knob praytell?
