Neptune Dryer Squealing during cycle
« on: August 16, 2009, 06:05:11 PM »
Great site.  First post.

Our first general Neptune Dryer is now squealing LOUDLY during most of the entire cycle.  We say Dustyd's post about similar noises and the solution to try cleaning it out.  Aside from that, does anyone have any other possible solutions as to how to get rid of this squeal before it gets worse?

Thanks,

Mike

My first thought is a bad roller.

I have worked on one or 2 of these slopeheads. The drum rides on slides in front and wheels in back. The idler is plastic and I do not think the squeek would be there. I say rollers in need of oiling or replacing. It is tricky getting into this one. You must pop the u shaped front panel off and then remove the door or remove the door then pop the front panel I can't remember. Then take the tabs off that hold down the top and then you can get the front drum support off. Then the  drum can come out and then you can inspect the wheels, idler, and glides.
