Whirlpool Washer doesn't spin, agitate, or drain?
« on: August 07, 2009, 05:47:15 PM »
 Hi,

I found this site while trying to figure out what was wrong with

my washer.  Great site BTW! ;D  I am no means a handyman but I

have removed the cabinet, checked the coupler, lid switch, and the

agitator dogs and all seem to be in fine working order.  Ive even

checked the water pump for blockage and nada.  My question is

what else could be the problem?

Model LXR9445JQ1

Do you have power to the washer?

Can you hear the motor humming or see it running during any of the cycles?

Probably a bad timer, but wait: I was working on one not long ago with them same symptoms.  Know what was wrong? The romex plug to the timer had backed out. All i did was wiggle it back tight and that was it. no parts needed.

That romex connection is a big old connecting plug that hooks up to the timer.

Maybe you is hearing the solenoid and the water valve is clogged.

JW,

Thanks for the info on the plug i will see if that resolves the problem.  The washer actually does fill up, but will not spin, agitate, or drain.

Lets take a look at that lid safety switch real close. Do this test:
On the quick connect is 3 wires. One wire is GREEN and connected directly to the frame. Don'r mess with that one. The other 2 wires carry continuity when that lid switch is all propah and enngaged. Jump them 2 remaining wire and see will that machine come to life. Report back resultames mon ami. On them newer machine that lis switch control that wash AND spin. If we have no power when lid is shut then we have nothing en either wash or spin. If that problemment es intermittante look fer a loose lid hinge. I used to say just jump out them 2 outside wires but these newer models do NOT connect that way. Dang engineers luv ta pluck with my mind :D

Hi JW,

Thx for all your help, i jumped the 2 other wires from the quick connector which were grey and pink.  When i did that the timer box starting make a soft crackling sound.  Is that good or bad?

Must be a bad timer. I would say timer replacement imminent. O0
