Maytag Refrigerator (fully electronic)

 The water dispenser didn't work. After I ran the service test on water components the water dispenser started working so I left it at that. the next day the water stopped working again. The service manual doesn't mention the other control board thats in the machine compartment but it is shown in the diagram for this model. I believe this board controls the water valves and may be faulty. Also, I couldn't find the tech sheet thats supposed to be with the refrigerator. What should I do next?

Suppose the water reservoir is simply freeezing up? This would explain the lack of water one day and it working the next after you  looked at it. If you want to test this theory out, remove the deli drawer or crisper bin and heat the water line up with a hair dryer. If water then runs you have a temp issue in the FF section, most likely a damper issue. Any frozen veggies or lower than normal temps noticed?

 The temps are normal. There is no freezing issue. The water started working immediately after I exited the service mode. It must have reset something temporarily. I suspect the bottom control board. I'm going to make the 45 mile one way journey to check it out again.

Heck, I go 45 miles just to the parts house each way, not to mention my daily service calls. You make 45 miles to a call seem like a big deal

 It's not a big deal driving that far once or even twice but I'll end up going 3 times. I suppose I could take my best guess and buy a control board for $111.00 before I go but I've tried that method before and have been wrong. On the upside it would help to beef up my inventory.

Not only that, but you can save yourself some steps and copy most of the common repair manuals you find here to a CD ROM or flash drive that you can plug into your laptop (you DO have a laptop for  field work, right). The manuals are only a few megabites and can save you countless miles from not having the research material handy.
