And then, handle the wires as if they had 10,000 volts in 'em.  (Its darned hard to be absolutely sure there's no stray current comin' at cha thru the white ones.  I've had my flying lessons, too.)
Don't force it. Get the BIG hammer.

Have you ever seen an entire building wired with the bare copper wire as the hot leg?
