Your gonna need a Multimeter to be able to test Voltage to the bake element, when the oven is on, You should have 240 volts going to the element, your also going to need to check your oven sensor which is located on the top left side of the oven cavity, That sensor should read between 1050 an 1100 OHMS at room temp. This sensor is best checked at the clock assy., If it is out of those parameters, change the the sensor, if you have good voltage at the bake element, and the sensor reads good, change the ERC (clock assy.)

Bet he blew half the breaker...check your voltage first.

i checked the thermometer outside the oven and got no reading at all, does that mean it is bad.  the oven is only three years old.  Is it just by chance the heating element and the thermometer went out at the same time.  Please help, thanks

the oven burner caught on fire and burnt.  I replaced the burner, now oven will only heat till 205 deg.  I took thermometer out and checked ohm, the meter read nothing on any setting.  Is it by chance both units went out at the same time.  What do i do?  thanks

Sir, I ask again, did you take a voltmeter and confirm 240 volts at the oven wiring harness? If 240 volts are there, you have a bad oven control...if there is only 120volts, the element threw half the breaker when it shorted. The lights and control still function but no heat. Please look into this with a proper instrument.

Do you have a volt-meter ?

Check the Voltage at the (3) Studs on the Terminal Strip on the back of the Oven.

Did you try re-setting your house circuit breakers ?

yes i flipped the breaker off to take the oven burner out. The breaker is old does that matter.  The house is 40 yrs old so is the breaker.  When the oven caught fire the breaker never tripped.  It is a 50apm breaker by the way. Ok how do i check the three prongs on the back of my oven.  Sorry I borrowed an ohm meter but do not know how to use it.  Sorry for bothering you.

I looked up the model number and this is the type of oven that has a hidden bake element.

I have seen this many times too. Every time I see one with a bad element I check to see if I have power from the control to the element. I would say about 50% of the time I do not and end up replacing both the bake element and the oven control.

I read that you already replaced the bake element. Now you will need to replace the oven control too. :(

I looked up the part number for your oven. You will need to order part # 74009223.
