water leak in freezer
« on: July 29, 2009, 07:20:14 AM »
last nite I found about 2" of ice in the bottom of my freezer. I cleaned it out and later had water in the bottom again. I lifted the rod to shut the ice maker off, and checked this morning and had frozen water again in the bottom. I am sure its from the ice maker though. what do you think?

It is probably not your ice maker causing this, I would suspect a plugged defrost drain. To be sure just shut off the water supply to the fridge for a day if your still getting the ice in the bottom of the freezer then you have a plugged drain.

You have to remove the back panel of the freezer the drain is at the bottom and is usually plugged with ice or debris. It drains into a drip pan under the fridge. Thaw it with a blow dryer then blow compressed air through it to clear the hose.
