Maytag Neptune Washer - No Spin

Complaint: The washer will not spin.

This is a very common problem with the neptune MAH3000 and MAH4000 model washers.
After putting the washer into the spin cycle myself to see that it was not spinning I removed the top console.

Right behind the timer is the control board. I was looking to see if the R-11 resistor was burnt.
As is most often the case the R-11 resistor on the control board was burnt. This happens because of a bad door lock was motor.

When you replace a control board that has the burnt R-11 resistor you must also replace the door lock wax motor. If you do not the new control board will get damaged and need to be replaced again.

Once I replaced the control board and door lock wax motor this neptune was spinning up a storm!

Could you just replace the burnt resistor on the control board? Or are there other components on the control board that get fried too? just curious.

besides the wax motor (old = brown plunger, new = black plunger)

If you can solder well:
R11, Q6 (triac), & possibly r43 (if burnt)

Sometimes this will get it running again.
There are even sites online and ebay that sell a little repair kit that includes the correct resistor, triac and a new wax motor.

When tried to repair a number of neptune boards this way a couple years ago.
They all burnt out again a few months later.

We have never had a problem after repairing the washer with a new control board and wax motor.

The R-11 burnt because the Q-6 is bad and lets 110v go to the R-11. Replace both and the wax motor. I keep a repaired board with me to get the cust. going untill the new part comes in. Sometims the cust. wants to purchase the repaired board at a huge savings of 50%. Not bad for $2.00 in cost and a few minuets of my time. The R-11 and Q-6 can be found at any good electronics store.
