Sears 70 Series Gas Dryer

Unplug the dryer. Remove the timer knob by simply pulling it off the timer shaft. Then remove the rear console panel, #2 in the diagram. From there it should be easy to see the screws that hold the timer #3 (part # 3976577) in place.

For tools I would make sure you have a phillips screwdriver, needle nose pliers, 1/4" & 5/16" nut driver.

Orient your timer and move one wire at a time and or make a wiring schematic.

So should I just go ahead and order this part without even looking at the dryer?  Sounds like you guys are pretty confident that it is the timer.  What if I purchase this and it's not the timer?

Hey Mr. Repair-Man!  I ALWAYS question everyone...and yes that includes the physicians I work with on a regular basis.  I guess because I haven't physically looked at the machine yet.  But hell, what am I going to do?  Take it apart and stare at it?  Looking at it isn't going to fix the damn thing.  Ok...ok... I will order the part...sheesh!  Thanks for the nudge.
