Whirlpool dishwasher won't fill.

My Whirlpool Portable Dishwasher won't fill. If I add water manually at each time it runs fine. javascript:void(0);   Model DPB500XBN0, STOCK NO. DP8500X  (?), S/N FD1121684.  Thanks IA for your help!

Your model number will not come up on my parts sites. With lack of a valid model number,make certain your water valve is turned on to the DW. If the water is turned on, your float valve or DW water valve could be bad. If you have a volt/ohm meter and know how to use it, let me know and I will walk you through the steps to diagnose it.

With RegUS help the part number came up. Still the same diagnosis. Water turned on. Good float switch. Good water valve. These are the first things to check.

Jumptrout51 has it right.   AJ, it would seem logical but I went back with a magnifier and indeed the Stock # starts with DP8 and the Model # starts with DPB.      REGUS, what is a float switch? What is a water valve? Yes I have a voltmeter but (I don't remember how to use it - from a class I took in 1995 and never used. (

The float switch #30 is on the right side under the machine. The water valve #16 is on the bottom left. Remove the kick plate from the bottom front of the machine to access these parts. Remove power from the machine. Set the meter for continuity. Locate the float switch. Touch one meter lead to one contact terminal on the FS and the other lead to the second terminal. With the switch closed you should read continuity through the switch. With the switch open, no continuity. If it reads good go to the water valve. Set the meter to read AC voltage. Remove the wires from the WV and connect the meter lead wires to the 2 WV wires.Plug the machine in and set it to run in the WASH cycle. If the meter reads 120 volts AC the timer is sending the voltage signal to the water valve. If so, the water valve should be changed. If no voltage to the water valve the timer should be changed.
