maytag washer spills water on spin

this things worked great for 5 years, now on a full load when it starts to spin, the water comes out over the top.  also spins very slow on start up and takes 2-3 minutes to get going, by then the water is out of it so it can spin faster.  belt is ok, motor slides are free, water pump new last year, no binding.  HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Despite the fact that the pump may be fairly new, this does not preclude the fact that it takes more than 70 seconds to empty the  tub. Your primary suspect is the pump.

Take the pump out and look closer. I bet you will see the bearing starting to seperate.

ok, took the pump out tonight, all is ok.  when I was putting the pump back in, I noticed on the main pulley on the drum is grinding itself into the bottom of the machine.  took the e clip off and all the pieces(thrust bearing and all), bearing is dirty and dry.  but the main  problem i see is the pulley wearing itself into the bottom.  is this a thrust bearing issue or is the trans and or clutch going out.  Thanks again to all who reply.
