GE Profile Refrigerator and freezer not cold enough

My 4.5 year old GE Profile refrigerator is loosing its ability to cool, in both the fridge and freezer, in the past few days.  We know items in the freezer were fwell rozen on Thursday but when we arrived home from vacation on Saturday things in the freezer were thawing.

A few weeks ago the ice maker stopped making ice and there was a build up of ice around the maker in the rear of the fridege.  I stoped the freezer and let it defrost to remove the ice build up, but since then the ice maker has not made ice.  However at that point the freezer and fridge were still well cold.  

I have a volt meter available and a bit of experience with repairing home appliances, but need schematics and values for reading that I should expect to find.  Thermostat, etc, for example and any advice is greatly appreciated.

Remove the panel on the freezer and look at the defrost heater. The ice everywhere will give you a clue.

GE puts a mini manual in every refrigerator, usually in the front behind the kickplate somewhere.

Do you mean the panel in the middle of the back panel of the freezer?  Not seeing much in there.

I cannot find a manual anywhere in the fridge.  Just have the operators manual but that has no technical info??
Can I get an e copy of the svc manual anywhere?

No manual for you, sorry. The defrost issue is fairly easy to diagnose if you'll remove the inner panel of the freezersection. You will find a defrost heater and thermostat there which must show continuity for the unit to defrost. The heater sits under the evaporator coils and the thermostat is above it. Your OHm meter will show you which is open.
