Frigidare Dishwasher vent
« on: July 08, 2009, 11:58:09 AM »
Frigidaire PLD4555RFC0 dishwasher. I am getting an error code that is "er" followed by "ou" which I have been told is a dryer vent problem.  How is is this repaired?

"er'= Expensive Repair
"ou"= Often underappreciated"  :)

Be on the lookout for a blower/vent assembly, part # 5304467317

Okay but is there anything else I can check?  What would be wrong with this part?  Do they go out often?

They go out often enough to be somewhat scarce right now...there's no need to do any further checking, as the control is designed to give you those error codes for a reason. When a technician sees those in the field, he knows right where the problem is.  If you have any diagnostic issues, you'll find the dishwasher manual here.

Okay.  Are these dishwashers worth repairing?  Are they considered good quality?

Worth repairing?

Look at it this way...a dishwasher is just a box with a pump on it. How much quality can that involve?

Unless the repairs exceeed half the cost of a new unit, then it is always worth repairing.

I got the part yesterday.  replacement required removing the dishwasher from under the counter as the vent mechanism is on the top of the tub.  Replacing the vent mechanism did clear the code and allow the washer to run although there is now about 3-4 inches of standing water in the tub that will not drain....any ideas?

Obviously if it was draining before you uninstalled it, something went awry during the re-install process. Not much to add except check that the drain hose is still routed exactly the same way and not pinched in the cabinet area somewhere.

I will follow the diagnostics for the drain issues, clean all lines and traps and seals and see if that works. Maybe the control panel is the issue...seems to be alot of reports of that.

not draining...there is standing water in the dishwasher after the cycle is finished.  No error codes displayed.  I removed the dishwasher and checked the drain hose and all fittings for blockage but found none.  Removed drain pump and noted nothing obviously wrong with it.  Anything else that is common to this type of problem?

I can certainly do that.I did run it once after I reassembled it...never did hear the drain pump run or water sounds in the disposal.  I blew the tube out when i had it out and it was clear...same for the drain pump...I suppose I could have reversed the leads on the pump?  not sure if that would do anything.  Everything else worked on the cycle though, all the the electronic lights, fill wash, heat, dry, timer...just not the drain.

Symtom:
Dishwasher will not pump out.
Check the following:
1.Drain restricted
2.defective drain pump
3.air lock in drain hose
4.blocked impeller
5.open windings
6.wiring or terminal defective
7.electronic control board defective

Yup saw that in the repair manual.  How likely is it that the drain pump would go out?  Is that common in these units...or is it more common that the control panel would go out?  As above, I just replaced the dishwasher vent...could the two problems be connected in anyway?

Did you tip the machine over to replace whatever you replaced? Maybe that checkball inside the pump is jammed in a bad position. Have you looked in the pump?
