will it agitate if you "give it a shove" (when full of water) ?
or try to reach in carefully and give the tub a start.

what about giving the tub a spin carefully to see if that helps the motor start.

I held the lid switch in and tried to move the tub, it does not seem to want to move. Closed the lid, shoved it and it started to spin.

regular and gentle agitate? yes. same results.

Pull knob out it fills with water, starts to hum, shove it and it agitates, stops agitating, starts to hum, shove it and it spins, and drains adding water to rinse off suds as it nears the end of spinning, usually starts to fill to rinse, hums, shove to agitate, etc.

for motors w/production numbers 2-1666-2, 2-1666-11, 2-1666-12,
 2-1666-14, and 2-4564-2

Good, I can return the two belts that site told me was the problem (which I changed and it made no difference) and get my $48 back towards the switch.

Would the switch be where the loud humming is coming from or is that the timer, or can you tell? ???

I don't know where you got the belts from.

the switch should be mounted on the main motor (if it is the right series number motor)

The main motor is where the hum should be commimg from, listen for it there.

try giving the motor a slight whack with a hammer and a piece of wood to see if that's what needs a shove.

start with the smallest whack and increase slightly as needed.

That may solve yout starting problem, but like you said, you may have other problems with the timer position, ect.

I bought the belts at RepairClinic.com, based on their answer to my problem, which is the site you linked me to for the switch.

The loud humming is coming from the main motor.  I do not see a switch, so i assume that it is under the plastic top cover.

A slight tap with a piece of wood on the motor and it started to spin!  That will save on the bruising of my hip and that is what i was shoving it with. :2funny:
