Kenmore side by side
« on: June 17, 2009, 04:00:42 PM »
Freezer is 20 degres F. Have checked the coils, not too dirty but cleaned them. Frost on the evaporator coils. What could be causing it to be too warm. Can't get it any cooler than the 20 degrees

Jump the cold control out and see if it will get any colder. If it don't then you may be low on refrigerant. Remember most units only hold about 4 ounces so if it is a tiny bit shy of the correct amount it will underperform. I have found 5 psi low side is pretty durn close on most ice box's.

The coils must not be clogged with frost or it will not cool. Air has to pass thru thoise coils...check your defrost components.

You actually have a GE refrigerator there in disguise, so go to the GE forum and look for a manual to help you.
