I have a washer that when it agitates and spins it makes a loud squeaking noise and also a slight grease burn smell. What part do I need to replace?

What I do is pop the main top up, remove the 2 screws holding the front panel on, then sit back and run the machine so I can hear exactly where the noise comes from. With 182 different parts on this washer, it is hard to pinpoint a general squeak complaint by guessing.

Ok, I did what you asked me to do, and it sounds like the noise is coming from underneath the washer where the belt is located. Is there any bearings under there because it sounds like a bearing going bad to me?

I took off my front panel and listen for where the squeaking noise was coming from. It appears to be coming from underneath the washer where the belt is, there is also black stuff under it on the floor. It sounds to me like a bad bearing, but I don't know much about washers. Is there a bearing under there that could go bad? Any opinions would be appreciated.

There is no point in starting a new topic when your still talking about the same appliance.

I am out fishing, and using the Private message feature will not get you any closer to fixed.


This machine probably needs a new transmission...this is not a DIY project, nor  is it one you will want to pay for either. I'd start shopping for another machine.
