Drive belt replacement on Performa model.

Can I remove the front panel on this model without disconnecting the gas line? I think the glides may need replacement as well because the drum does not seem to rotate freely...can I do all of this from the front without tipping the dryer over or removing the gas line?

Will manual # 16026315 cover this model?

Start by popping the top. Use a putty knife to compress the clips as shown. Then you can get to the screws holding the front on and easily remove it. You can get to the innards easily from there.

What do you mean when you say the drum does not turn freely? Does the dryer start and run?

The Dryer runs ,but the drum does not turn. I took the front off, and the belt is broken, but now I am wondering if the pads or glides may need replacing as well because the drum will turn by hand, but stops after less than a quarter revolution. I'm not sure how easily it should spin, but I read the post : http://appliancejunk.com/forums/index.php?topic=1302.0

where it says:

 "Your dryer has glides on the front of it. I would be willing to bet the glides are bad. Reach inside and turn the drum, It should turn just effortlessly. If it is any way under the sun hard to turn then you have problems. No amount of belts will ever solve the problem."

so that has me wondering if the glides are bad.

Thanks, this was exactly what I needed to know so that I could clean out all of the lint.
