Maytag Perfroma Drive pulley

Hi All,

I recently removed the drive pulley to the washer mentioned above. I'm having difficulty getting the drive pulley back on. It seems the shaft is NOT long enough now to get the washer and retaing clip back on. Any suggestions are most welcomed, thanks.

You have to rotate the pulley counter-clockwise to get it to ride up on the shaft this will probably give you enough play to get the clip back on.

You mean turn counter clockwise as I place on the clip? I have been turning it counter clock wise but I still don't get any slack.

Sorry, but I have tried all that I have been advised and I am not able resolve this issue. I looked at the diagram to amke sure all the washers are correctly aligned and cam properly set. It is if the shaft became shorter suddenly.

Did you read the manual? It says you may have to pull down on the shaft to reinstall the clip but be careful not to damage the shaft.

I use a claw tool to gently compress the brake package so I can get that pesky e clip back on. A hammer is too big but this tool fits nicely between the spokes of the drive pully
