Looking for the part that the large pulley attaches to...?

The large pulley in the back of the washer attaches to the shaft on the center of the tub assembly.   After looking at the diagrams that most repair sites have, it doesn't really show this shaft, so I don't know what part of the tub assembly it is attached to / or is a part of.

I just replaced this pulley because it was so badly worn, it wobbled on the shaft and the belt wouldn't stay on.   I'm a little concerned that the shaft itself might be damaged, even though the replacement pulley I just installed seemed snug with no wobble following the installation.     If the shaft ends up needing replacing, I'm trying to figure out what that shaft is a part of, and if you know - how difficult would it be to replace it?

WOW.....planned obsolescence?   Very interesting.   If Stainless Steel and Aluminum shouldn't be in contact with one another, then either this was intentional made to self-destruct after a number of years, or the Engineers who designed this must have sent away for their 'degree' online.   What a sad commentary.

Stainless steel and aluminum with a nice alkali like laundry detergent, add a lttle hard water. That is a recipe for disaster.

My 'repair' lasted exactly a month.

The washer was so loud on Saturday, I decided to take a look inside today.   When I arrived, I was told the washer had 'died'.    When I opened it up, the belt had fallen off the pulley/motor.   I could feel some wobble on the pulley and then I removed the pulley to find this:

 



If that is (was!) a bearing, it looks pretty shot.   The shaft is wobbling around within that center section.

Is there any hope of fixing this without major expense and investment of time?

The washer is probably 7+ years old.   I'm thinking it's time to for the "last rights" but let me know if you think it could be brought back from the brink of death.

I posted this last night in my original post from last month, but decided it might need it's own post/topic.

Looked at the washer yesterday after it starting making a very loud noise during the spin cycle.   Opened up the back and this is what I found:

The bearing looks shot but the parts breakdowns don't show the bearing.   Is it possible I could find and replace the bearing?    The washer is 7+ years old and if I have to replace the entire tub assembly, I don't think the cost of the part plus the time to replace it would be worth the investment.

Let me know if you have any suggestions.

It looks like this washer will be replaced.    I'll strip some items off first before sending it to the recycle farm.

See if you can get a number off the bearing and take it to a local bearing shop.
