How to exit Demo Mode
« on: May 13, 2009, 10:42:30 AM »
Im having this exact problem with Model GFSL6KEXALS Its a french door with ice maker no water despencer. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I can save the service man from having to come out tomorrow. This one only has the 4 buttons non the top inside the doors. I believe it goes from left to right  Ice maker on/off Freezer there there are the 2 green digital number displays then refrigerator temp button and finally a energy saver button. Thats all. I bought it this past sunday as a floor model right now the displays both keep going back to saying off. I was told over the phone to hold the freezer button down and the energy saver at the exact same time for about 3 sec (it takes more like 10) but then it displays 0 0 ...and Im assuming thats when I put a code in?

Sorry newb to the site.

Yea I bought the fridge as a floor model and everything turns on it just wont run. I called GE and they told me its on demo mode but what they told me to re set it wont work. The first guy just said to unplug it for a min and it will reset, ( nope) The other person told me to hold down energy saver and freezer buttons wait a few sec and it should re-set but it only shows 0 0 and theres a way to put numbers in but it seems random then in a few seconds it just beeps and displays off off again. no mater what i push its been gong back to off off

I think I know that one...when in the diagnostic mode and testing has been completed, do one of the following things:
Enter code 1 5 to completely reset the system.
Enter code 1 6 to exit diagnostic mode. The temperature control panel is reset automatically.
Unplug the refrigerator for at least 10 seconds. Test mode will terminate when the refrigerator is
plugged back in.

Now let me get this straight:
Answer: I enter code: 15 then code 16, then unplug the dang thang. I do the hoochie coochie then plug it all back in and I'm good.
Question: Say whut?  :D
