Alright so tell me if I got my gameplan right here ... I am going to take the dust cover off and then take the element out and check her for physical breaks in the coils. If there are no breaks I am going to order the limit kit. If there ARE any breaks whatsoever in the coils, then I am going to order the element ... am I on the right track here, SublimeOne ?

I just checked the current prices $23 bucks for the limit kit $45 bucks for the heater. If the vent was stopped up the limit would blow, and if the heater was brittle the wires would break. So those are some things that would give you an idea.

Good Evening JW!

Got another heater element from Sears (had to have it right away) and installed it with the old thermostat that was on the broken element. The install went fine but the dryer is still not working correctly. It will run a timed cycle and shut off like its supposed to but the dryer still wont get hot!? Is that the thermostat or the limit that you mentioned last nite? Can you help me out here. I'll "buy you a beer" if we can get this thing fixed, I promise!

On that same heater housing are 2 thermo limit disks. The one on bottom is set for 250F, the small one at the top is set to blow at 300 F. What will happen is for some reason the bottom won't blow and so the top one blows. This is usually due to a stopped up vent or clogged filter. The kit comes with both parts. If you ain't got the money just give the small one a whack or 2 on a solid surface and it will reset.

Hey JW, Thanks for the reply but check this out ...

I read something about the breaker switches in regards to the 220 side of the dryer on the "net" while I was waiting for you to respond.

Had the ole lady go out in the garage and flip them off and on and guess what?! The damn thing started heating!!  :D

I read where the 220 side of the dryer actually controls the heating of the dryer and I did have a broken coil in the element so I figured I'd try resetting the breaker first before buying a limit and thermostat, that I might not need. That sound right to you?

Seems to working fine. Will treat ya to that beer when I get home from work. Thanks for all your help and I know where to turn now when I have appliance issues.  O0
